Bayne Street in Orangeburg, South Carolina, is centrally located between Claflin University, South Carolina University and the Orangeburg Municipal Airport (OGB). Known as ‘The Garden City’, Orangeburg was originally settled in 1704 and the city was incorporated in 1883. Claflin University and South Carolina State University are both historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) and have been part of the town since the late 19th century. Orangeburg’s fascinating history, beautiful natural areas such as Edisto Memorial Gardens, present downtown revitalization project known as DORA (Downtown Orangeburg Revitalization Program), and its future projects which include the Railroad Corner Redevelopment make Orangeburg a special place to reside.
